All seems to be going well.

AlienFX issues?

I recently had to replace my screen so i had to do some dissembling (at first I misdiagnosed the problem and went under the battery and such to find the problem) but I put it back together and it works perfectly except for the AW logo on the screen, power button and "wifi and battery indicator" and front facing LED's don't work but the keyboard still lights up. I don't recall ever touching these parts so I don't know how they could be broken but would anyone know what to do in this...

Windows 10 problem on r1

When i upgrade to the tech preview my computer runs a lot hotter then on windows 7, my computers hot to the touch any reason behind that? i downgraded back to 7 for the time being!

Whenever I try to update my drivers for my 335m It always seems to mess up and my screen resolution always gets messed up and gets blurry. I always have to do a system restore to fix this process help please!

So I took apart my m11x R1 to see if there were unplugged ribbons because my lights don't work (aside from my keyboard so if anyone knows what the problem could be I'd appreciate the insight). Instead I have a broken hinge on a ribbon toward the left of the fan under the keyboard that I figured should be held down so I taped it down but then my system wouldn't start. Then I gently tapped the hinge down to mess with it and then the computer turned on while as my actual power button doesn't...

Replacement HDD

So I'm a moderate gamer and I have a large library but I also like the mobility of a laptop but I'm not a fan of poor performance since I tried to use a external HDD to store and launch my Steam library so I figured that's not the best option. Is there any way to replace the internal HDD for something bigger than the one I have on my M11x?

Hey Everyone,

So my R1 has been running strong since day 1 and I just recently told it to upgrade to Windows 10 and all seemed well. Not sure if those remember, there was a regedit mod to make FN+F7 become F7 so changing volume would be easier like macbooks. Upgrading to Windows10 broke that so of course I quickly (and stupidly) ran the same program to change the keys back. Now my computer won't boot (clearly the regedit has changed and who knows what I actually did to the new regedit.)...

Not much to report.

Installed Microsoft Windows 10 on a formatted 50GB HDD partition of my M11xR1

Installs without any problems and a first time login is all basic stuff.

There are Nvidia and Intel driver updates and if you do go down that path I'm not sure where it leads.
However, I suspect if you have discrete GPU enabled in BIOS you should be OK most the time.

I installed the Nvidia v.263.08, A02 drivers and it all seems to be working OK....

To cut a long story short, i thumped my Laptop like an over-emotional baboon whilst arguing with my better half. I thumped it just to the left of the touchpad, in the bottom left corner of the laptop, whilst it was turned on, and it instantly blue screened and turned off. It's back on again of course, but I can't help but think i've noticed some small differences in performance, and i've been struggling to get L.A. Noire to work as well. I don't know if L.A. Noire would have worked...

Have I damaged my R3?

Hello good people of the forum,
I've had my m11x for a few years now and i absolutely love it. While it might not play the latest games with ultra settings, I've been thinking it could make a viable note taking laptop for when i go back to college (Woohoo second chances!).

My problem is a loud noise from what appears to be the fan (not definitely sure). When the laptop is perfectly still, there is no issue. I've even used HWiNFO64 to set the fan speed to it's highest setting and while a...

Hello again, everyone. Previous thread was closed so I'm starting a new one. I got optimus to work with Windows 10 for the m11x R1!!!!!! Super excited.

You can run with the latest Intel graphics driver Windows 10 already installed.
Download NVidia graphics driver for 335m Windows 10 (version 341.74)
Run it, then end its task after it decompresses the files. It will save the files to your C:\Nvidia\ folder.

Hi

Just got this laptop and Win10 is installed and I can see that in Device Manager
I have Unknown Device and Base System Device that requires driver installation.
The CD that came with this laptop lists drivers for m14x r2 & Win7
So I'm not sure I should use this CD to install anything.

I'm not familiar with this laptop.
Does it have touch screen or something special with the mouse pad? when pressing FN+Pause, nothing happens...

Appreciate your help on finding drivers.

Hi Guys,


My alienware m11x r2 core i3 330um motherboad failed on me. I am on a budget and i just need for my laptop to work again. The cheapest replacement that I can buy online right now is the r2 u5400 pentium motherboard. Now I know some of you might be wondering why I'm opting to use a weaker processor, I just need to get it work so my gf can use it for weak processing tasks (movies, ms office, etc.) asap.

My questions is will this setup work?

Hello again guys,

I posted here a couple months back about my heat issues on my m11 and resolved them for quite a while (5 weeks haha) now i'm back again with temps way above what they should be ~85 celcius on my gpu... I recently re-pasted the gpu and cpu and installed a samsung 850 EVO SSD into this thing due to numerous reasons, heat being one of them. Any ideas what could be causing the heat??

M11X R3 Extreme Lag

Hello, I've posted about this here before but still can't figure this thing out >-<

I'll explain my information sequentially.

1. I open my game and play it for about 10-15 minutes (any game, this has no prejudice).

2. After that time goes by and something happens in game with a lot of particles (anything), the game completely lags to about 10-15 fps from a solid 45-50.

3. It continues until I tab out and go back into the game where then the fps is back at 45-50.

M11xR3 LCD Screen Assembly Replacement

Hello.
I've been trying to determine exactly which LCD screen I need to replace my current one.

I'm looking for the whole LCD assembly, I've tried searching with the parts numbers I can see but only come up with LCD cables and panel replacements, not complete assemblies.

There's about 3 or 4 different models and I don't want to buy the wrong one.
I've even tried looking on the Dell website with my service tag under "Original System Configuration" but only get panel replacement numbers...
